How many days do you need in Skiathos?
Five is the sweet spot: enough for a town day, two or three beach days, a round-island boat trip and one day with a hire car for the north. Three days covers the essentials if you skip the north. A week lets you add a day trip to Skopelos and a walking day without losing the holiday.
Is Skiathos expensive?
Moderately priced by Greek island standards — cheaper than Mykonos or Santorini. The bus costs €2–3 a journey whatever the distance, which keeps getting around genuinely cheap. Prices roughly double for car hire in August, and the fortnight before 15 August is the most expensive stretch of the year for flights and rooms.
When should you book a Skiathos holiday?
For early to mid-August, months ahead — that fortnight carries mass domestic Greek demand on top of international charters, and ferries and rooms sell out. For May, June, September and October there is far more slack.
