Everything is open. June sits inside the season proper, mid-May to mid-October, and charter routes are at full stretch, so getting here is easy from most of northern Europe.
The bus tightens through the month. It drops to every 15 minutes by late June, running roughly 07:00 to midnight, which is the full-stretch timetable that holds until early September. On this island your address is a stop number, so that matters more than it sounds.
Every taverna and beach bar is trading, including the remote north-coast operations that open last. Sunbeds, watersports and boat trips are all running.
The meltemi starts in June. It is the dry northerly that blows across the Aegean until September, strongest in July and August. Skiathos sits in the lee of the Pelion peninsula, so it gets off comparatively lightly, and on a windy day the rule is to go south.
Book round-island boat trips early in your stay. Lalaria and the sea caves cannot be entered in a strong blow.
Crowds: Moderate to busy. Prices: Rising, still below peak.
